The Aussie bulls are enjoying a day in the sun today, despite only a modestly positive lead provided by international markets overnight. The XJO is presently 46 points (+1.0%) in the green, holding at 4574.
The clear majority of sectors are in the green, with materials, and energy the strongest performers, whilst healthcare stocks are the weakest links. In company news, Woolworths has climbed 0.4% after announcing 1Q FY13 sales of $15.22 billion, a 4.3% rise on the prior corresponding quarter.
Elsewhere, Newcrest has advanced 1.3% despite announcing a 22% drop in September quarter production. Around the region, Asian markets are all trading higher; the Hang Seng (+0.4 %) and Nikkei (+1.4%) are amongst the best performers.
