Aussie shares gained ground today, following a strong lead from international markets overnight.
Most sectors finished in positive territory, with utilities the only exception.
The banking majors all strengthened; ANZ put on 1.6%, whilst Westpac was up 1.4%.
The big miners were stronger on the back of rallying commodity prices. BHP advanced 0.7% whilst rival Rio Tinto added 0.6%.
Nufarm declined 2.8% after releasing its half-year results and noting that its European business faces some challenges over the next half.
The ASX 200 climbed 39 points (+0.9%) to close at 4301.
