Steven Dooley - Editor-in-Chief
Bachelor of Arts, A Fin
Steven's been in the financial industry since 1996, working in financial publishing, journalism and analysis. After finishing his Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University, Steven first worked producing tax manuals for accountants, but soon moved to a research analyst role focused on the retail banking sector.
Steven also spent three years in London covering corporate finance for several technical publications and has worked in specialist marketing for one of the world's largest fund managers.
Steven's key responsibility at the Australian Stock Report is editorial direction and member support. The stock-picking style he favours is long-term, driven by broad macro-economic themes, and he also enjoys short term trading in currencies and index futures.
He is currently completing a graduate diploma in applied finance and investment with the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Geoff Saffer - Head of Research
CFA, Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning)
Geoff studied Banking and Finance and Financial Planning at RMIT University in Melbourne. Since completing his university studies, Geoff has passed all three exams of the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program.
He has over five years of investment experience, including two-and-a-half years at ASR, and previously worked in Banking, Financial Planning and at a Share Registry. Through his studies, he has gained an extensive knowledge and deep understanding of investments and fundamental analysis and is well equipped to research the best investment opportunities for ASR members.

Carl Capolingua - Head of Education
Bachelor of Economics, Grad Dip Financial Planning (FINSIA)
Carl studied economics at the University of Western Australia, and went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from the Securities Institute of Australia, (now FINSIA) arguably Australia's most respected industry educational body.
Carl has over 12 years experience in professional trading and research, and has extensively traded practically every type of security on the stock and futures markets.
Apart from his expertise in trading ASX listed shares, Carl has had numerous articles published in trading publications, and is quoted regularly in various media publications.
Carl regularly tours the country presenting educational workshops to literally thousands of investors.
Having worked around both novice and professional traders, Carl is well equipped to cater to the varying needs of each group, and capable of understanding what they want out of our investment products.

Stuart McPhee - Senior Investment Strategist
A private trader since 1996, Stuart McPhee is a trading coach and author of 'Trading in a Nutshell, 3rd Edition'.
Stuart conducts trading courses throughout South East Asia and has presented at the ASX, the ATAA and at trading expos throughout Australia, and in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Shenzhen, Dalian, Mumbai, Bangkok, Los Angeles and New York.
Stuart has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and through his honest and clear style, has now helped thousands of people with their personal trading.

Andrew Bosman - Senior Investment Strategist
Bachelor of Business Science (Honors) - Business Finance
Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honors) - Economics
Andrew has over 20 years experience in financial markets having worked at Allan Gray Investment Counsel as a Senior Portfolio Manager, as an Equity Analyst at stockbrokers Irish, Menell Rosenberg Inc, and at AMP Asset Management as a Senior Portfolio Manager - Fixed Interest.
Andrew became a CTA Associate Member of the Sydney Futures Exchange (1999 to 2001), managing client funds. At Deutsche Bank (2001 to 2003) he worked as an Equity Derivative Strategist, providing relative value and derivatives research to Australian institutional clients and global hedge funds.
He has traded global futures and options markets for many years, including stock indices, currencies, bond futures and commodities. Since 2005 he has focused on his own research and trading of global financial markets from Perth.

Ben Wier - Research Analyst
Ben has been involved in the markets for years and opened his first trading account as soon as it was legal. He has been trading CFDs for more than five years and has experience with a number of CFD platforms in addition to his share trading.
Ben's focus is using technical analysis for short-term trading, especially oil, indices and currencies.
Ben's key responsibilities at the Australian Stock Report are handling our members' enquiries and assisting the analysts.

Stan Shamu - Research Analyst

Stan has been with the ASR since 2005, first working for us in a consulting role. He has since gone on to employ his exceptional communication skills as a Research Analyst - an essential trait in helping make our product user-friendly for members.
Stan attained his Bachelor of Commerce at Rhodes University and then completed his Masters of Finance & Financial Planning at Deakin University.
Drawing on both his university training and previous roles, Stan conducts extensive research on Australian stocks and helps us build our investments and fundamental analysis division. He is committed to helping investors understand the product better and making responsible investment decisions.

Tim (Zhentian) Huang - Research Analyst
B.Com, Honours in Finance
Tim (Zhentian) graduated with an H2A Honours Degree in Finance from the University of Melbourne in 2006. His research interest is corporate finance, with particular focus on investment-cash flow sensitivity analysis.
Tim has strong educational background in Securities Valuation. He is currently working towards the Level III of the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Designation.
At the ASR, Tim is responsible for conducting quantitative analysis and financial modeling on ASX 200 companies and small-cap stocks. His strong knowledge of the Australian equities market in institutional environments helps him ensure that all our Australian stock information is correct and up-to-date.

Chris Conway - Research Analyst
Bachelor of Laws/Economics
Chris completed a double degree in Law and Economics before deciding his interest lay in financial markets rather than the judicial arena - and who can blame him? His previous work experience includes working for News Corporation.
Chris has a strong interest in derivative products, most notably CFDs, which are geared towards short-term trading. He has also worked closely with CFD providers, namely IG Markets, and has an extensive knowledge of the mechanics of CFD trading. Chris is currently undertaking his Masters in Applied Finance through FINSIA.
Chris' key responsibilities at the ASR revolve around the construction of the CFD Report, conducting fundamental and technical analysis, and helping to educate clients.

Karene Arundell - Sub-Editor/Journalist
Bachelor of Arts
Karene has over ten years experience in writing, editing and researching, having written two educational workbooks on human development for a Brisbane-based publishing company and also penned an immigration guide for Canadian investors seeking relocation to America.
Karene spent the last few years living in Canada, where she chose to focus on finance writing in the place of humanities subjects. Karene spent two years at Canadian investment firm Odlum Brown, where she worked closely alongside a team of analysts, aiding in editing, research, writing and publishing.
Having returned to Australia in 2007, Karene now not only assists the analysts at the ASR but also researches, edits and develops our reports. She is still a psychologist at heart, though, and has a particular interest in the psychology of trading.
